The Right Whale
One of my favorite creatures for as long as I can remember. A whale so docile and curious it was an easy mark for whaling vessels of the 19th century, hunting it to the brink of extinction. But its tale is also one of the best of humanity - 20th and 21st century protections has led to a slow and cautious rebounding of their wild populations.
A dual- purpose piece
While serving as a lovely piece on its own merit, the addition of a cone of incense underneath the sculpture transforms it, sending billowing plumes of perfumed smoke through its blowholes - emulating a whale coming to the surface to breathe.
Stoneware clay, glaze, cone incense optional
This piece was raffled off in February 2026 to benefit the Immigrant Law Center of Minnesota
